Creating your "own" space

As I prepared for my first child, I focused on having the nursery set up just right with a newly painting walls, matching furniture, outfits neatly hung, and diapers organized. I remember watching hours of videos on nursery organization and diaper bag packing. As the amount of my daughter’s belongings became to grow and spill into the other rooms of our home, we decided to convert what had been my office/craft space into a playroom. No big deal, right?

As I was starting to adjust the new routine sleepless nights, endless diaper changes, and piles of pumping parts, something had shifted. Maybe it was the fact I had gotten more than 2 hours of sleep or finally gotten the courage to wear something besides leggings. I was finally ready set some time aside for me. To read a book… to work on a craft… plan out my next project…whatever it was, I ready.

I soon realized the space I once had in our home was where my daughter now plays with her animal friends and gets lost in her books. With a few pieces of wall paper and some fabric, I was able transform a tiny closet in my daughter’s playroom into my own little nook. A space without toys, piles of laundry, and little hand prints left behind when your little one wants to finger paint with pureed food. It is my Mom space.

So if you’re a Mom, try to find a place in your home for YOU. Express your personal style by incorporating decor that includes your favorite color pallet and style. Just by adding a candle along with a few items found around your home that can be re-purposed can brighten up a plain area. Whether it’s an entire room, corner, or closet, make it your special place and enjoy!
